How can I get into your school?

Do I need to have previous college background?
- No, students do not need previous college experience to enroll at InterAmerican College. A high school diploma or GED is all that is required. (NOTE: Some programs do require students to have earned a Baccalaureate degree; i.e. Nursing and Teaching Credential programs).
How long is it going to take me to get my Bachelors degree?
- Most programs require 124 credits -- each course is worth 3-4 credits. How long it takes you to complete your program of study depends on whether you attend on a full-time or part-time basis, the number of courses transferred in, and availability of required courses. (NOTE: Some programs require more than 124 credits. Visit the Academic Programs page for detailed information on the program you wish to pursue.)
How can I obtain a copy of the catalog?

- InterAmerican College is accredited by:

When do classes start? How long do they last?
- Classes start monthly and usually meet for 9 sessions. Some courses do meet for longer time frames.
When can I start?
- The College accepts applications continuously. Speak to an Enrollment Advisor to determine how soon you can begin classes.
What are the costs?
- Costs are based on your program of study. For general information on tuition and fees, visit the Tuition and Fees page under Admissions.
Where do I send my transcripts?

Has the college received my transcripts?
- Please contact the Records Clerk in Academic Records to check if your transcripts have been received (619.477.6310 x116).
Can I bring in a sealed transcript?
- No, all official transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution. Hand delivered transcripts will not be accepted.
Do I qualify for Financial Aid?
- Please visit the "Admissions" page on IAC's website and go to the Financial Aid link for more information on eligibility requirements.
Can I get a student loan if I don't qualify for grants?
- Additional information on the various forms of financial aid available to students can be found on the Financial Aid page under Admissions.
I have military benefits; can I use them at IAC?
- Yes, students can use military benefits (i.e., TA, GI Bill, etc). Additional information is available on the Financial Aid page under Admissions.
NURSING PROGRAM
Is there a wait list?
- There is no wait list for the Nursing Program at InterAmerican College. Students interested in attending IAC's Nursing Program should speak to an enrollment advisor at their earliest opportunity.
Do I need a Bachelor's degree to enroll in the Nursing Program?
- Yes, students do need to have a Bachelor's degree to enroll.
Are there programs at IAC I can receive a Bachelor's degree in?
- Yes, several Bachelors are available for students at IAC. Students enrolling for the B.S. in Health Science will meet many of the prerequisites required for the Nursing Program through completion of their BS degree.
What prerequisites do I need?
- Visit the Nursing link under Academic Programs for information on prerequisite courses. Students must have a Baccalaureate degree to enroll in the Nursing Program.
How long is the program?
- The program is 16 months long.
Is it transferable to other states?
- Students take the NCLEX for the state of California. Successfully passing the NCLEX licenses the student in California only. Whether a student once they have successfully passed the NCLEX can get licensed in another state depends on the requirements of the state you are transferring to. Contact the Board of Registered Nursing for the state you will be transferring to for additional information on requirements.
Once I'm finished with my Bachelor's degree, can I go straight into the Nursing program here at the College?
- You will be eligible to apply to the Nursing program once you have successfully completed the requirements for your Bachelors and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 semester or 90 quarter credits of the degree and a C or higher in all admission pre-requisite courses. NOTE: Students must go through an interview process to be admitted to the Nursing Program. Applying does not guarantee that you will be admitted.
